چکیده

Purpose/Introduction Tissue engineering aims to regenerate new biological tissues in order to replace diseased or injured tissues. Polymeric scaffolds for cell seeding, cell growth and proliferation are often extremely sensitive to histological processing. Therefore 3D non-invasive and quantitative imaging methods are needed to study tissue-engineered constructs before and after implantation. This work investigates the use of high resolution MRI as a tool to monitor labeled cell distribution and migration within a porous scaffold.

Label-free magnetic resonance imaging to locate live cells in three-dimensional porous scaffolds.

Porous scaffolds are widely tested materials used for various purposes in tissue engineering. A critical feature of a porous scaffold is its ability to allow cell migration and growth on its inner surface. Up to now, there has not been a method to locate live cells deep inside a material, or in an entire structure, using real-time imaging and a non-destructive technique. Herein, we seek to demo...

Poly (lactic-co-glycolic)/nanostructured merwinite porous composites for bone tissue engineering: II. structural and in vitro characterization

Several characteristics of a novel PLGA/Merwinite scaffold were examined in the present study to evaluate the possible applications in bone tissue regeneration. Physical and mechanical properties, as well as degradation behavior and in vitro bioactivity of porous scaffolds produced by solvent casting and particle leaching technique were also characterized. Results showed that incorporation of m...

In vitro behavior of silk fibroin-coated calcium magnesium silicate scaffolds

Bioceramic scaffolds such as silicate bioceramics have been widely used for bone tissue engineering. However, their high degradation rate, low mechanical strength and surface instability are main challenges compromising their bioactivity and cytocompatibility which further negatively affect the cell growth and attachment. In this study, we have investigated the effects of silk fibroin coating o...

Fabrication of Porous Hydroxyapatite-Gelatin Scaffolds Crosslinked by Glutaraldehyde for Bone Tissue Engineering

In this study, to mimic the mineral and organic components of natural bone, hydroxyapatite[HA] and gelatin[GEL] composite scaffolds were prepared using the solvent-casting method combined with a freeze drying process. Glutaraldehyde[GA] was used as a cross linking agent and sodium bisulfite was used as an excess GA discharger. Using this technique, it is possible to produce scaffolds with mecha...
